Biography

Dr. Tibor Frekko was born in New York City and raised in Flushing, Long Island. He came to Washington at the age of 17 to go to College at Georgetown and he has been here ever since. Dr. Frekko graduated from Georgetown’s College, Medical School and Law School. Medicine was Dr. Frekko’s first love and he was the first Family Physician in Montgomery Village when he established his practice there. Eventually, when his three physician daughters joined the practice, he founded Frekko Primary Care, LLC to accommodate the influx. The practice remained in Montgomery Village many years until it moved to its current location in 2012 in Gaithersburg, just a few minutes from the original location.

Dr. Frekko has been a very active Georgetown Alumnus, serving on the Board of Governors for two terms. He currently is still on the Board as an Active Senator. He also serves on the Medical Alumni Board since 1995. He received The John Carroll Award, the highest award given to an alumnus by the Board of Governors, in 2005. With his wife Gertrude, they founded the Parents Association of Georgetown Medical School when their 3 daughters attend the school and were the first Co-Chairs of the association.

Dr. Frekko also received the Maroon Award for special and outstanding service to Colgate University. He served on the Board of Directors of Norwood School and the Holton-Arms School.

Along with his wife Truda they founded the Parents Association at Colgate University and served as Co-Chairs for several years. He also served on the Parent’s Council at Williams College and was Co-Chair with his wife for 2 years.

Dr. Frekko has Active Staff privileges at Shady Grove Hospital and Courtesy Privileges at Suburban Hospital. He is a Life Member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, a member of the Montgomery County Medical Society, and Med-Chi, the State Medical Society.
